CodexCodex entry contributed to by: The name "Thorio", perhaps, comes from Thorax, since they have an unusually long thorax.
Additionally, Thorio could be a reference to Thor, the Germanic/Norse god of thunder, from Earth's ancient mythology. Thor is often depicted wearing a distinct, pointed helmet. This is all fitting, as the Thorio carry clubs, wear viking-style helmets (with stag horns), have a warriors belt with daggers, and wear animal skins.
- Thorax: In anatomy, it's the part of the trunk in humans and higher vertebrates between the neck and the abdomen, containing the cavity, enclosed by the ribs, sternum, and certain vertebrae, in which the heart, lungs, etc., are situated. From Latin -thorax, (thorakos) meaning, breastplate or chest.
- Thor: (Old Norse: Þórr) is the red-haired and bearded god of thunder in Germanic paganism and its subset Norse paganism. Thor was a much revered god of the ancient Germanic peoples from at least the earliest surviving written accounts of the indigenous Germanic tribes to over a thousand years later during the last bastions of Germanic paganism in the late Viking Age.
- io (suffix): from the Latin noun-forming suffix "io, ionis" meaning "state, quality or act". "-io" indicates an act or the state which results from an act.
